由于虚拟语气是依据“和过去事实相反”“和目前事实相反”“和将来事实相反（虽然没发生，但一定不会发生，所以是以后事实）”分类的，所以从句的虚拟只和上述三种事实有关，和主句时态无关，所以无论是He talks主句目前时还是He talked主句过去时都不会干扰虚拟了的从句的时态，是如此吗？
可是这句Much as I would have liked to, I couldn't lend him the money because I simply didn't have that much spare cash.和He talked as if he knew blabla岂不是相反了？
尽管我非常想借给他，但我没钱（过去时间）所以我没法借。
他那时候（过去时间）说的仿佛他了解一样。
黑体是主句，都是在过去时间，红色都是发生在过去，在过去那个时间点和过去当时的事实相反。为什么却不同？
我认为Much as这句话从句根本就无需用虚拟，“我本想借给他钱的”是对“我不想借给他钱”的虚拟吧。。。。“我本可以做blabla”是对“我没做到blabla”的虚拟。。。虽然语料库里找到了不少例句，但还是感觉这句话有问题。。。

为何as if从句虚拟式谓语的目前、过去、以后却是以主句谓语的时间为基准？
其实道理非常简单：
说话人假设一个与事实相反的条件，然后再以此为基础进行推理时，他自然以他说话的时间为目前。说话时间之前为过去，说话时间之后为以后。这是非常不错理解的。
as if 从句是方法状语，用来描述主语做某件事时所呈现出来的样子。譬如，大家说某人走起路来像个女性。He walks/walked as if he were a woman. as if从句描述主语走路的样子，无论是目前走，还是过去走，走路的样子都是那个样子，和说话人的说话时间无关，而只和走路的时间有关。他可可以吃起饭来大嚼大咽像个莽汉，只有走路才像个女性。所以as if从句针对的是主句谓语动作时间。
as if 从句描述的内容可以和主句谓语为同一时间，此时从句谓语用过去时，当谓语动词为be时，不分人称一律用were.
He runs/ran very fast as if a ghost were chasing him.
He talks/talked as if he were a king/as if he knew everything in the world.

as if从句描述的内容可以先于主句谓语时间，此时从句谓语用had done.

1 从句动作或状况与主句谓语时间同时，从句谓语用一般过去时或过去进行时，be一律用were;

3 从句动作或状况后于主句谓语时间时，从句谓语用would do或were to do。
不应该用目前、过去或以后来描述从句动作或状况的时间，以免误导英语学习者。
以上as if从句动词形式仅限于虚拟语气形式。
至于as if从句可以用陈述语气，不在本次讨论范围。

英语表示过去未能达成的愿望、计划、意图等时，常过去完成时+to do不定式表示。比如：
