虽然用 of 或 for 都可以，都可以表示“做某事的时候”，但用 for 强调作用与功效或目的，即用于做某事或为了做某事，有的状况两者都可以，但有的状况则只可以用其中一个。譬如要表示不好的事情时，一定不可以用 for（由于不好的事情不可能为目的）。如下面的句子就不适合用 for：
